The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has called young environmental entrepreneurs to apply for its “2020 Young Champions of the Earth” prize. Young Champions of the Earth is a global environmental competition hosted by UNEP every year. With a challenging motto for 2020, ‘Dare to invent the future’, UNEP has opened the application from all the young environmental entrepreneurs aged between 18 to 30 years who have big plans for the planet.
UNEP is a global program by the United Nations for implementing its environmental policies along with coordinating with other countries for overall sustainable development. UNEP created this prestigious competition in 2017 to find young minds who working towards a transformative environmental impact and influencing billions of people to create a sustainable future. This UN honor offers a global communication platform to help entrepreneurs amplify their agendas and reach the maximum number of people worldwide.
Key features of the UNEP 2020 Young Champions of the Earth prize are:
- Winners to selected from seven continental regions across the globe, namely Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, North America and West Asia.
- The winners will receive a seed fund from UNEP to be invested in their projects and will be essentially mentored and trained for a year along with significant monitoring from UNEP as the project gets implemented.
- The winning project will gain incredible visibility internationally accompanied with media outreach and storytelling.
The previous year’s winners of this global competition have sparked their big ideas through this platform and are now reaching global heights. UNEP is calling out young entrepreneurs who are willing to speak out for nature and find solutions to increasing climate issues from nature herself.
