National Research Development Corporation (NRDC) has signed a memorandum of agreement with the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) for marketing inventions and commercializing patents. NRDC’s Chairman Dr. H. Purushotham signed the MoA with Prof. R.K.Sinha, Director of CSIR’s Central Scientific Instruments Organisation based in Chandigarh. This agreement will facilitate the marketing of innovations, patents, formulations, technical know-how developed by the two organizations for commercialization among various industries.
Similarly, NRDC has signed technology licensing agreements with another government research institute, the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) for transferring technologies to industries. Two medical formulations developed by CCRAS, Ayush-82 — an ayurvedic anti-diabetic drug and CSIR-NEIST — a herbal arthritis medicine have been handed over to private firms for producing drugs for the Indian market.
NRDC aims to sign at least one technology licensing agreement a day and thereby assist the Start-Up India Mission in a big way. The Delhi-based corporation, which is part of the Ministry of Science and Technology, has the primary task of promoting indigenous technologies that are developed by governmental laboratories and institutes and bringing them to the commercial market.
