Ragi Kana to celebrate its 100 weeks with cultural events

Ragi Kana, a unique urban flea market and cultural hub in Bengaluru, is celebrating its 100 weeks of continuous operations with a series of cultural events on 18th, 19th May 2019. Talk shows, folk dance performances, music concerts, craft making workshops and flea markets are being organized to mark the completion of 100 Weeks of Ragi Kana.

As a socio-cultural organization, the primary aim of Ragi Kana is to build bridges between urban India and rural villages through constructive work and ideation. The weekly flea market or Santhe is unique to Bengaluru. Ragi Kana is a youth movement whose focus is on taking the ideas of sustainable agriculture, handmade products and village life to urban India.

Authentic Khadi and Handloom products from several well known organizations from across the country such as Maghan Khadi, Tula, Dastkar Andhra, Desi, Charaka, Nature Alley, Natural products, fruits and vegetables from Timbaktu, Jeevabhumi, Sanatana Foods, Maple Tree, designer handicrafts from Janastu and Chethana will be on the exhibition-cum-sale from 10:30 am to 7 pm on the two days.

Continuing the trend of hosting well known artists in our programs, we are excited to invite you for an exclusive music concert based on the ethos of Ragi Kana by the famous Hindustani Vocalist Pandit Venkatesh Kumar on 18th evening, between 5:30 pm and 7 pm.

The Ragi Kana discussion forum is privileged to announce a talk shows by Retd. Justice Sadashiva talks on the “Dream of Gandhian and Educationist M. Chandrashekar” during formal Inauguration of 100 Weeks of Ragi Kana Celebration on 18th May at 4:30 pm. Similarly, Dr. Rajendra Singh, the renowned “Waterman of India”, will talk on “ Little Drops Matter – how we use water impacts everything” on 19th May from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

In addition, Ragi Kana features a Tamil folk performance “Parai Attam” and a Drum Circle with “Agnii Art for All”, a street children’s troupe taking art for cause on 19th May. Further, there will be farm walks with environmentalists, craft making workshops with Coconut leaf, clay, grass and other natural fibres workshops are also scheduled on both 18th and 19th May.
