Tata Social Enterprise Challenge 2023 invites social innovators

The Tata Social Enterprise Challenge, a national-level challenge to find India’s most promising social enterprises, is back in its 2023 edition. This joint initiative by the TATA Sons and the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) aims to encourage the youth to step up to be the next generation of social entrepreneurs.

The Tata Social Enterprise Challenge invites social entrepreneurs who have an early-stage venture (not older than three years) or a promising idea with a plan that could create a sustainable social impact in India. In addition, the enterprise is required to demonstrate significant social impact through results or proof of concept. This challenge is being supported by leading venture capitalists in the social entrepreneurship space in India such as Social Alpha, Upaya Social Ventures, Villgro, Acumen, etc.

The teams that make it to the grand finale will be given an opportunity to apply for incubation at IIM Calcutta Innovation Park and cash rewards upto INR10 lakhs are on offer for the winners. Further, teams shortlisted for the finale will have an opportunity to pitch for seed funding of up to INR1 crore.

Applications are invited from social entrepreneurs working in sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, education, housing, handicrafts, appropriate technology, renewable energy, etc. These proposals will be judged based on three criteria –

  1. Business model
  2. Social impact
  3. Sustainability

The Tata Social Enterprise Challenge invites social entrepreneurs who have an early-stage venture (not older than three years) or a promising idea with a plan that could create a sustainable social impact in India. In addition, the enterprise is required to demonstrate significant social impact through results or proof of concept. The last date for to apply for this challenge is set at 15 March 2023.
