Eco Driveathon 2017 – a car rally to promote the use of alternative eco-friendly fuels such as Biodiesel is being organized in Bengaluru from 17th to 19th February 2017. The Centre for Incubation, Innovation, Research & Consultancy (CIIRC) is organizing this event in association with the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Oil Manufacturing Companies, Bio Diesel Association of India and Karnataka State Bio Energy Development Board.
This unique car rally is being organized to showcase diesel automobiles that are powered partially by Biodiesel in various blends without any modification to existing engines. Car enthusiasts are invited to participate in this unique event where they have cover a distance of 670 km from Bengaluru to Sringeri and back in a span of three days. The organizers will provide biodiesel blends of 10%, 20% and 30% to participants to fuel their cars, which are supposed to pass through the six check points along the route within the prescribed time.
CIIRC is a research organization committed to the control and mitigation of atmospheric pollution by using eco-friendly fuels. One of its cars, a Ford Figo model recently covered around 40,000km powered by biodiesel blend variants and also created history for being a setter car in the Asia Pacific Rally Championships using a biodiesel blend.
