Events across India to observe World Environment Day 2019


It is heartwarming to see a steady rise in awareness about environmental issues that our society is facing. Particularly, youth groups have quite active in taking up ecological conservation activities across India. World Environment Day is celebrated on the 5th of June every year to build awareness and coordinate action for the protection of our environment.

This year, as the World Environment Day 2019 approaches near, there is a frenzy of activity happening in various cities in India. Here is a compilation of a few events that we know, please do inform us to add an event that is being held to increase environmental awareness –

Seed Paper India Free Giveaways

Event Description – Seed Paper India is offering free giveaways to celebrate the Enviromental Day from 28th May to 5th June 2019. The company is providing cocopot, seeds, cocopeat and seed paper as an offering to give back to Mother Nature.

Seedathon by Shivamogga Parisarasaktha Thanda

Event Description – Shivamogga Parisarasaktha Thanda, a consortium of various environmental groups is organising a Seedathon from Shimoga city to Murdeshwara. This consortium includes Uttishta Bharatha, Malenadu, Sihimoge Cricket Academy, Rashtriya Swabhiman Andholana and Anna Hajare Horata Samithi. They aim to disburse seed balls across the road stretch during their bike ride on this route through the western ghats. Participants should have motorbikes, vehicle documents and should bear the fuel expenses for traveling the route.

AGIS awareness event at Mphasis

Event Description – Association Of Green Industries & Services (AGIS) in association with Mphasis is organizing an awareness event to promote a green economy and sustainable lifestyle from 3rd to 7th June 2019 at Mphasis Campus in C.V.Raman Nagar, Bangalore. AGIS members will display their green products and services for sales. Further, experts will present a talk show with practical examples for Mphasis employees regarding air pollution, water conservation, sustainable living, etc.

Meghalaya One Citizen One Tree

Event Description – The state of Meghalaya has invited its citizens to join a mega campaign to plant a record number of 1.5 million trees this World Environment Day. Named as ‘Meghalaya One Citizen One Tree’ campaign aims to build on the last year’s campaign and to take it to the next level by involving larger sections of the citizens, this year both in rural and urban areas. On the eve of World Environment Day, the Meghalaya state government has mobilized people to take up large scale plantation works including planting saplings in vulnerable catchment areas in villages and planting at various locations and Avenue Plantation along identified National Highways.

Harit Sewa Mission at World Environment Expo

Event Description – Harit Sewa Mission in association with Ecoideaz is distributing saplings for free at the World Environment Expo being held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The event will be hosting three different activities concurrently, the second edition of World Environment Conference, Green India Awards 2019 and India Buildtech 2019 Expo. Harit Sewa Mission is a renowned voluntary organization in Noida that strives to build awareness about a green environment by distributing and planting saplings to citizens of Noida and Delhi.

WED at Basava by Kris

Event Description – To commemorate the World Environment Day, Basava by Kris is sharing space for sales and promotion of organic food, eco-friendly products, and awareness towards a sustainable lifestyle, demos like home composting and implementing environmentally friendly practices in daily life.
