The 2018 SEED Low Carbon Awards have been announced for innovative eco-inclusive startup enterprises based in India, Colombia, Tanzania, Thailand and Uganda, which are making significant contributions to mitigate or adapt to climate change.
The SEED Awards for Entrepreneurs in Sustainable Development is an annual awards scheme for finding the most promising, innovative and locally led start-up social and environmental entrepreneurs in developing and emerging economies. SEED is a global partnership by agencies of the United Nations such as UNEP, UNDP, IUCN, etc.
Over 2,000 environmental and social entrepreneurs have applied for the SEED Awards from all over the world since 2005. This year, SEED is looking for the most promising, innovative and locally led start-up eco-inclusive enterprises in five specific countries namely, Colombia, India, Tanzania, Thailand and Uganda. These SEED Low Carbon Awards are sponsored by the International Climate Initiative of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety.
Winners for 2018 SEED Low Carbon Awards will receive a package of tailored support services consisting of capacity building, tools, profiling, network building and financing up to $5,000. Candidates can apply until 3 April 2018 using the applications placed on the SEED homepage.
