At Shola Shack all you have to do is “nothing”. Just sit back, soak-in the wilderness and enjoy nature’s show. We have set our base, next to Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, on a few acres of Shola grassland and a patch of Shola forest on rolling hills of the Western Ghats in Wayanad.
A holiday that exposes the individual to a new way of thinking, a chance to appreciate the local flora and fauna and to be part of an experiment that redefines the meaning of a community living in harmony with nature. A rustic ambience with few creature comforts that allows one to connect with nature with few of the distractions of a consumptive urban world. A panacea for the pressures and stressors there in.
We have two treetop rooms Kabini and Kaveri which can house 6 pax and tents. We have mostly used IGBC rated building materials and tried our best to keep our structure in sync with nature.
This venture is run on an experimental basis and since the feed-back is good from our guests, could be a model for resorts and home-stays where the owners of such enterprises understand the importance of showcasing native flora and fauna rather than the manicured lawns and exotic plants that are currently part of these establishments. Diffusion of ideas into the neighbourhood is one of the agendas, thus creating hope for reconciliation ecology, the obvious beneficiaries being the native plants and animals of this amazingly diverse part of the mighty Western Ghats.
