Mahindra Electric, in association with Economic Times Auto (ET Auto) has announced the launch of Environ Rise Awards for encouraging new entrepreneurs and innovative organizations that are working towards creating smart cities and making roads environment friendly. Mahindra Electric is a subsidiary of the leading automotive company Mahindra, which is dedicated to manufacturing electric vehicles in India.
As part of its smart city mission, the Government of India is developing 100 smart cities. Mahindra Electric’s objective in establishing these awards is to dovetail into government efforts to build a sustainable commuter transport infrastructure for these smart cities.
Environ Rise awards are categorized into four separate sections – Harvesting Solar Energy, e-Waste Management, Sustainable Housing, and Product Innovation. Apart from these categories, one outstanding idea will be given the grand prize ‘Most Innovative Idea’.
The jury selected by Mahindra Electric and ET Auto to choose the winners includes LM Das, Emeritus Professor, IIT Delhi, Mahesh Babu, CEO, Mahindra Electric, Abdul Majeed, Partner, PWC, Anumita Roy Chaudhary, Executive Director, Centre for Science & Environment and Nabeel Khan, Editor, ET Auto. Entries are invited from anyone who has created something innovative for contributing towards sustainable mobility ecosystem and is residing in India. The Environ Rise awards will be presented on World Habitat day, i.e. 2 October 2017.
