The first five star rated green building built in Chhattisgarh ‘Paryavas Bhawan’ was inaugurated recently in Raipur by Raman Singh, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. This green building is an integrated complex of the offices of Raipur Development Authority (RDA), Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA), Chhattisgarh Housing Board (CGHB) and Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board (CECB).

Built in an area of 15,000 square meters, the construction of this green building cost about INR595.6 million. The building has a solar power plant with a capacity of 200KW and has an arrangement for harvesting the rain water as well. The Chief Minister said that the building with these ultra-modern facilities would be of great assistance to the departmental employees.

Paryavas Bhawan is constructed on the parameters fixed by Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA). The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has given a ‘five star rating’ for the better energy efficiency practices at the Chhattisgarh Mantralaya in June 2015. The high rating was given as the Mantralaya has achieved an Energy Display Index of 81.49.
